Early last week when we first reported information about the Air Jordan 9, we were under the impression that it was going to be nicknamed the Air Jordan 9 “Militia Green”. While that may still be the case (I doubt it, though), we now have the pretty dope backstory behind this Air Jordan 9. Trust me, you’re going to want to read this!
As more information has surfaced, we have found out that the upcoming Air Jordan 9 that comes in a white base with hits of oliver green throughout the upper, is actually an Air Jordan that is set to pay tribute to Michael Jordan’s legendary “Jumpman” statue that’s located right outside the United center in Chicago (Home of the Chicago Bulls). Why a Jordan 9 and why in these colorways? Well, its because the statue is actually wearing a pair of 9s, and it’s almost safe to say that the olive accents found in the shoe are meant to resemble the color of the actual statue. As an added bonus, behind the tongue you will also find the date – November 1st, 1994, which is none other than the date that the statue was unveiled. Now that you actually know the meaning and backstory of the shoe, is this a must cop? Let us know in the comments below!
Great backstory of the shoe. That Jordan statue is definitely legendary and I’m actually surprised that Jordan took this long to commemorate the statue in the form of a shoe. It’s only right that they chose an Air Jordan 9, being that the statue is wearing a pair of 9s.
While the execution of the shoe could have been better, I’m sure these will be a hit to all Jordan loyalist simply because of what it symbolizes.
